It’s officially springtime! It’s the time of year we celebrate, for it represents renewal. There is a newness in the air and our senses are fed with a myriad of sensations around us. Spring, in the fashion world, also means renewal. It is the time when we start to see new colors emerge for the season, first announced and demonstrated on the 2014 Spring collection runway shows. It is also the time when Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color across a variety of industries, releases the name of the color of the year! This Spring, it’s Radiant Orchid. Pantone describes the color as, “a captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones [that] emanates great joy, love and health.”
The Tadashi Shoji Spring 2014 runway show saluted this color as several designs emerged on the catwalk with details and accents of Radiant Orchid. Variations of the hue have been worked into the Spring 2014 collection, with dresses draped in the romantic softness of the pastel shade. Our Lavender Embroidered Tulle and Grid Corded Tulle Short Sleeve Keyhole Neckline Peplum Gown cascades to the floor and offers a fun alternative to the habitual black designer cocktail dress. It combines sheer short sleeves with a keyhole neckline and stylish peplum waist. Another dress that honors the Color of the Year is the Lavender Lattice and Floral Embroidered Tulle Full Skirt Dress. Appropriate for upcoming spring garden weddings and open-air patio brunches, it's shorter and is characterized by the swinging skirt and delicate floral details.
Spring is an exciting time of coming out of hibernation and ridding ourselves of the bulky jackets, sweaters and other cover-ups. Now is the time to step out and play around with color and style! Our figure-flattering dresses do just that, whether you choose a floor-length frock or a shorter, alluring hem. The romantic lace and complimentary A-lines confirm that springtime is a time for a delicate charm balanced with cheerfulness. Whimsical details of silk organza ribbon appliqués, “re-embroidered” lace, jewel embroidered sequins, fringe hems, and feather tiers help to usher in the season. Our Spring 2014 color palette includes everything from vintage whites to vibrant lemon yellows, and chalky pastels to sophisticated jades and oceanic marine blues.
And so, as we enter the spring season, we can be sure to see the Pantone Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, in our different styles of gowns. The color is a breath of fresh air this season. It’s vibrant, it’s playful, and it’s flirty. That’s precisely why it works with the textures and designs of our Spring 2014 collection. Tadashi’s designs incorporate the color both as a solid, as well as an accent on the multi-colored dresses that use the purple hue on the embroidered embellishments and ribbon sashes. The only question left is which dress to wear to which occasion?
